Our Story

Why Munkhong Rak exists

Munkhong Rak — which carries the meaning of a steady, enduring bond — was founded in Chiang Mai to address a gap that the founding team had observed over years of legal practice: people facing pension-related concerns often found themselves dealing with processes that felt opaque, hurried, or difficult to question.

The practice was established with a different intention. Every client engagement begins with a genuine effort to understand the person's circumstances before anything is advised or prepared. Written summaries follow each session, not as a formality, but because people need time to reflect — and because clarity that exists only in the room is not really clarity at all.

Our work spans pension reviews for individuals who want to understand their position, formal engagement with pension authorities where a response or documentation is required, and long-term support for clients navigating extended or complex matters. In each case, the scope and any costs are agreed before work begins.

We are based at Thanon Chang Khlan in the heart of Chiang Mai, and we serve clients across the region — some in person, some remotely. Whichever way you prefer to engage, the approach remains the same: considered, clear, and at your pace.

Our Mission

To give people facing pension concerns a reliable, unhurried path through legal processes — with plain-language explanations, written records of every discussion, and decisions that always remain with the client.

Our Values

  • Steadiness. We move at the pace that suits you, not the pace that is expedient for us.
  • Transparency. Scope and costs are always agreed before we begin. Nothing is added without your knowledge.
  • Clarity. Legal processes can be complex; our explanations should not be.
  • Discretion. Every client's circumstances are handled with strict professional confidentiality.

Standards

How we hold ourselves accountable

Thai Bar Compliance

All legal work is conducted in accordance with the standards of the Lawyers Council of Thailand. Our practitioners hold current registration.

Written Agreements

For all services beyond the initial review, scope and fees are documented in writing before work begins. No assumptions, no verbal-only commitments.

Data Protection

Client data is stored securely and handled in line with Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). We do not share information without explicit consent.

Client Update Protocol

For ongoing matters, clients receive regular written updates. Nothing significant changes in their case without prior discussion.

Ongoing Legal Development

The team keeps current with changes to Thai pension legislation and related official guidance, so advice reflects the present state of the law.

Peer Review on Formal Work

Formal documentation and legal responses are reviewed internally before submission. A second set of eyes is standard practice, not an exception.

Pension legal support in Chiang Mai — what clients come to us with

Pension matters in Thailand can involve interactions with multiple bodies — employer schemes, the Social Security Office, private pension providers, or combinations of these. For many clients, the difficulty is not simply knowing what they are entitled to, but understanding what process they need to follow, what documentation is required, and what their options are if a claim has been queried or a payment has not arrived as expected.

Munkhong Rak works with clients at various stages of this process. Some come to us before anything formal has happened — they simply want to understand their position clearly and have it set out in writing. Others come when they have received correspondence from an authority and need help preparing a considered, well-structured response. And others come when a matter has become extended or complex, and they need consistent legal support over a longer period.

In each case, the starting point is the same: a relaxed session where the client's circumstances are reviewed, questions are answered, and options are explained without pressure. From there, the client decides what is right for them. The work we do is shaped by that conversation — not by a standard package or a predetermined path.

For clients in the Chiang Mai area, we are available to meet in person at our office on Thanon Chang Khlan. For clients further afield or with mobility considerations, we are experienced in conducting reviews and maintaining ongoing partnerships remotely. We adapt to what works best for the individual.
